Today, in Calabria, the Bergamot acreage is around 1500 hectares, with an average production of about 100,000 kilograms of essence.
The fruit has a spherical shape like Orange, but the color is yellow like lemon with an average weight of 200 g. Flowering occurs in April and the fruits are harvested from November to March.
